Tatum O’Neal told a newspaper columnist she is grateful to the New York City police officers who busted her for cocaine and saved her from herself.

“I’m still sober!” the 44-year-old actress told New York Post columnist Andrea Peyser in a phone call shortly after being released from custody Monday.

“Just when I was about to change that and wreck my life, the cops came and saved me! I was saved by the bell, by the guys in the Seventh Precinct.”

I appreciate Tatum O’Neal’s response in this news story. You can follow the link to read the rest of the story.

Many times we do need to be saved from ourselves. The first step to personal change and transformation is always acknowledgement of our current state. As someone once said, denial is not a river in Egypt.

I pray that Tatum successfully overcomes her addictive struggles. This arrest could be just the catalyst she needs for permanent change.

Till next time, Jim

This is a sad story, and you are right, sometimes we have to go through these tough times to get to the point where we understand are total dependency on God’s mercy and grace.
