God is Not Necessary Says Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking in his new book “The Grand Design”, states that God did not create the universe and that the “Big Bang” was just a result of the laws of physics.  The new book, written with physicist Leonard Mlodinow of the U.S., is due out next week.

“Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist,” Hawking writes.

If one looks for a reason to believe and have faith in God they can find it.  On the other hand it is not difficult to find reasons not to believe.  Stephen Hawkins is no longer interested in finding out “the mind of God”  as he wrote in his seminal book “A Brief History of Time” in 1988.  It would seem that the mind of man will suffice.
