I’m looking forward to seeing the new Karate Kid movie with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. I saw the trailer and it looks very good. But, I still remember the original movie with Ralph Macchio as Daniel, and Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi.

Who can forget the scene, when Mr. Miyagi is showing Daniel classic defensive Karate moves, through the process of waxing a car. Daniel did not understand the wisdom, therefore, he could not see the value of waxing a car, when he wanted, and needed, to learn Karate quickly.

This is frequently the process that God uses in our lives, to develop character that is very much related to discipline. “But Lord, why should I do this? I can’t see how this relates to my career or aspirations. How is this helping my life? What is the point in doing this, over and over again?

Many of us have learned from practical experience that if we are going to reach any significant goal we will have to leave our comfort zone. Are you ready to launch out in the deep? Wax on – Wax off.

Encouraging others is a good business practice. It is always a fools journey to try and build a business by taking advantage of others. Here is an article that I wrote on encouragement a few months back. The opposite of encouragement is discouragement and there is nothing that discourages more than people trying to take advantage of you. I saw an article recently about a company in affiliate marketing that folded due to bad business practices which included cheating others out of their commissions.

Choose to be an encourager and help others – you can not go wrong with this strategy. This economic crisis will reveal the scam artist on the internet and many of them will go out of business. Look for companies that have a history of good customer service and sound business practices. Avoid scam artist like the plague.

I was in a pay per click coaching program recently that I joined but I cancelled my membership. I didn’t like some of the affiliate networks they pushed and the focus of the marketing efforts. I could say more about this experience but the bottom line is that it was not a good fit for me.

Do not take advantage of people just to make money. You will be sorry!

Here is a post that I ran on my Web Success blog:

ENCOURAGEMENT

The secret, the law of attraction, the golden rule – all of these phrases has been very popular lately. Let me share with you a key that I have found to true success – it is encouragement.

Encourage – to inspire with courage, spirit or hope. To hearten, to spur on, giving hope or promise, inspiriting. Hearten means to give heart to, to encourage. Inspirit means to fill with spirit. To inspire is to influence, move or guide. It is to motivate, to move the intellect and emotions.

I want to encourage you today. Encouragement is one of the most powerful things that can happen to us or flow through us. During times of discouragement, it can seem like a life preserver when you are going down in the dark water for the third and last time.

When all hope seems to be gone it isn’t. Why would I take the time to write a post like this on a business site? Why?; because it is the key to true success.

In my brief time in e-commerce, I have seen that those who really care about people, and try to help and encourage them, are the ones really successful.

Are there people making a ton of money on the internet who are just after the money? Absolutely! But listen to this observer. I have been around long enough to recognize the markers to true success.

When a car crashes, if there is enough speed and force, there is a danger of it catching fire. There are many heading for a crash in internet/web marketing, but, I know it does not have to happen.

Today, choose to be an encourager. When you do you will find yourself moving in the other standard markers of success – like telling the truth, respecting your family, good financial habits etc.

Till next time, Jim
